It is managed with a focus on protection, education, sustainable development, and includes tourism, conservation, and scientific research related not only to geology but also other aspects of natural and cultural heritage. The Mpoto Geopark is well-known world-wide for important fossil discoveries on Mammalian, Dinosaur and early Human Evolution.
